Trip to the state of Wyoming in the summer of 2024. Yellowstone was the main goal, but I had plenty of pins on my map that I wanted to knock out.
Scotts Bluff National Monument
First stop of the trip was to Scotts Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska. The first day of my trip was driving to near Scottsbluff where I stayed the night. I had wanted to stop here for awhile, but was always busy storm chasing.
Fort Laramie National Historic Site
After visiting Scotts Bluff, I made a short stop at this important site. Plenty of people passed through here over the years and Fort Laramie was important in expanding the American frontier. It really was hot on this July day, so I did not spend an extended amount of time here.
Wyoming Landscapes
Cloud Peak Skyway
This pretty drive through the Tensleep Canyon and the Cloud Peak Skyway just before dark capped a good day in Wyoming.
Beartooth Highway
The scenic, high-altitude ride into Yellowstone’s northeast corner via the Beartooth Highway. This is one of the more scenic drives in the USA
Yellowstone National Park
The ultimate destination this trip was Yellowstone National Park. I ended up spending most of the week in the park, seeing wildlife and landscapes.
Grand Tetons National Park
I also spent a few days at the spectacular Grand Tetons just south of Yellowstone.
Gros Ventre Road
Gros Ventre Road starts in Grand Teton National Park and meanders to the east and southeast from the National Park and continues into the Bridger-Teton National Forest for a number of miles.
Mesa Falls
These were 10 story sized waterfalls on the Snake River Henry’s Fork north of Ashton Idaho
Snake River
The Snake River begins in Yellowstone National Park and flows to the Columbia river in Washington and provides world class white water rafting
Flaming Gorge and Dinosaur NM
Finally, I stopped by the Flaming Gorge and Dinosaur National Monument on the way home.
